Liberation Study Hall:

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Schools of 1964, the Boston Ujima Project proudly presents "Liberation Study Hall," a year-long exploration of historical figures, schools of thought, experiments and sites that have contributed to shaping our contemporary movements and global landscape.

Event Description:

In honor of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM) this March, we're excited to present a three-part workshop series dedicated to fostering understanding and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as all disabilities. Led by esteemed disability justice advocate Ola Ojewumi, the series will delve into disability identity, justice, and intersectionality, addressing prevalent issues of ableism and racism within the disability community.

Inspired by the iconic protest where disability rights activists crawled up the steps of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., this workshop pays homage to the resilience and determination of those who fought for equal rights and accessibility. In this workshop, we will discuss the significant influence of the black disabled community on the disability movement, exploring historic protests and legislative victories, and gaining insights into the intersectionality of race and disability in advocacy efforts. This session pays tribute to the resilience of activists and celebrates their contributions to equality and inclusivity.
