Thank you for yet another wonderful meeting on Monday!
1. We spent the bulk of the meeting reviewing and incorporating member feedback into our current minimum standards. From our member feedback review in the Business Membership Terms, Ownership, and Inclusive Workforce categories, we added 2 minimum standards, 1 in Good Faith Effort for Worker Satisfaction and 1 in Inclusive Workforce for Trans and Nonconforming Workforce.
2. We spent another portion continuing our exploration of additional areas that staff flagged where either no minimums were set by the group to date, but individual members of the committee subsequently suggested minimums, or no minimums were set by the group to date, and we wanted to ensure that this was intentional and not an oversight. From this process, we added 1 minimum standard in Product or Service Mission.
3. We also reviewed recommended minimum standards in Health & Safety from MassCOSH. From that process we added 2 minimum standards in Fair Classification and Occupational Safety Compliance.
4. We continued our exploration of additional areas that staff flagged where either no minimums were set by the group to date, but individual members of the committee subsequently suggested minimums, or no minimums were set by the group to date, and we wanted to ensure that this was intentional and not an oversight. From that process, we decided not to have minimum standards in Recycling & Reuse and Organic Composting.
Congratulations! We have set 24 minimum standards in the areas of Good Faith Effort, Inclusive Ownership, Inclusive Workforce, Good Jobs, Worker Power, Customers, Vendors, Energy, Civic Engagement, and Workplace Safety so far!
5. Lastly, we reviewed sector specific recommended minimum standards from Matahari, ROC Unite, Boston Jobs Coalition, MassCOSH, PILOT Coalition, and Right to the City, in domestic care, restaurant & food service, construction, nonprofit, and housing. From this process, we added 13 sector specific minimum standards.
6. Our next Community Standards Committee
At this meeting we will finalize our draft minimum standards proposal and prepare for the assembly.
